A Wednesday Afternoon Update on Karen for October 12th, 2016
Super Important Doctor’s Appointment Tomorrow
From my workstation this afternoon I am watching the leaves beginning to fall and every once in a while there will be bang of an acorn coming down. The sky is looking very autumnal and the sunshine looks beautiful as it comes shining through the windows. Karen loves the fall. I feel so badly for her because she has been so very sick for the last several months that she really hasn’t been able to enjoy the fall like she normally would.
She is able to eat so very little before she gets sick. Almost immediately she has pain in her upper stomach which radiates around to the right side. She has every symptom of gallbladder disease. There are no gallstones; but that is of little encouragement to her. Her recent HIDA scan showed that her gallbladder is working at the 35% level. If it is 33% or lower, surgery is certain. At 35 it may not be so cut and dried.
So we would like to ask you to pray with us. Tomorrow morning at 11:15 we see the surgeon. Please pray that we would be able to explain her symptoms with clarity. Pray that he would have wisdom and that if it is the Lord’s will for her to have her gallbladder removed that the doctor would readily agree. We truly do want the Lord’s will. But this we do know. The oncologist does not want her losing weight. Because she can’t eat, she has lost a total of thirty pounds so far. She has gotten so weak from not being able to eat that this is a concern to us. After her PET scan on October 28th, she will most likely need to go back on some type of chemotherapy. So we would like for her to be able to get eating again and start to build up her strength.
So we would like to thank you in advance for praying with us about this. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to know that there are dear friends who will pray for Karen. When I post something specific to be praying about we have a special network of dear friends who stand with us and hold us up in their prayers.
I came across a powerful verse today. It’s Psalm 81:7. “You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder” (NKJV). What a powerful promise from our awesome God. We don’t need a severe thunderstorm tomorrow; but just a little rumble as He answers would be great. Many are laughing as they tell me, “I’ve never prayed for gall bladder disease before I met you.” Well friends, that’s Mike and Karen for you! Thanks for your love and friendship.
