“And every priest stands daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sins: But this man, after He offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:11-12).
I don’t even know where to begin to express my sheer delight and amazement with the Lord Jesus. I have counted it a supreme privilege to have served as a pastor in the New Testament era of grace in the age of the church rather than a priest in the Old Testament economy. I cannot imagine what it would be like for those Old Testament priests to daily slay numerous animals being brought by worshippers for sacrifice. Thousands upon thousands of animals were slain to be a temporary covering for sins. Then the day came when the perfect, spotless Son of God paid the ultimate price for our sins (Not His! He had no sin!). He paid for our sin and shame. Once! Just once was His perfect sacrifice offered! Just once was His payment sufficient for our sins. The Lord Jesus will never again have to pay that awful price for our sin debt. Notice the phrase, “After He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God.” He died. He rose. He then ascended and sat down (salvation’s payment was complete.)
For today: I am going to celebrate the accomplishment of my Savior. It will be on my mind all day. How about yours?
