“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4).
This is Old Testament Davidic language that expresses his sincere desire to live consistently in closeness to the expressed revelation of the true and living God. How precious and powerful was his declaration. He speaks of his passion (“desired of the Lord”); He speaks of his pursuit (“will I seek after); He speaks of his purpose (“dwelling, beholding”). David knew much less than we believers know of the Lord today. May we have the same passion, pursuit, and purpose before the Lord in our personal lives.
For today: May the love we have for Christ and His love for us be evident in our lives today.
