I love thinking about Heaven, my home.
I love thinking about my Savior being there.
I love thinking about my redeemed loved ones already being there.
I love thinking about what my Savior said on the night before He died for us.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself: that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1-3).
Lisa and her husband Tony were talking about Lisa’s trip to Florida to help with the care of her elderly mom. Lisa’s sisters had both planned vacation trips, and Lisa had assured them that she would be glad to come for several weeks to cover for them. That was four months ago. Now on the night before her flight, she was feeling homesick already and softly began to cry. “I want to help my sisters, and I love my mom. But I don’t want to leave you, Tony, and I already miss my home. I don’t want to go.”
Tony quietly hugged her. He surely was going to miss her, and although he fully understood why she had to help with her mom, he didn’t want her to have to go either. He whispered, “Honey, you’ll be home before you know it.”
The next morning he repeated that to her at the airport. After getting through security and finding her gate, Lisa waited to board the plane by reading her Bible. She came to John 14. She read of the Father’s house (14:2). She read of the Savior preparing a place for her (14:3a) and how He would come for her and take her Home (14:3b). She silently whispered to the Lord, “I’ll be home before I know it with Tony and someday with you.”
For today: What a grand promise! Want to know how this promise should affect us? Read 1 John 3:2-3.
