“You Prayed About the Numbers”
Karen and I cannot begin to tell you how much we appreciate your friendship.
This morning for my quiet time I read in the Gospel of Luke. Karen read in the Book called Acts. Often it is called “The Acts of the Apostles.” We both have preferred to refer to it as “The Acts of the Lord Jesus!” It is amazing to see how He worked before the cross in the Book of Luke and after the resurrection in the Book of the Acts. What a powerful Lord to Whom we belong.
You were praying about Karen’s numbers. Knowing that her blood count numbers would have to be up in order to have the surgery tomorrow, many rallied around us and earnestly sought the Lord. You were like the circled wagons I wrote of last night. It was music to my ears when the lab technician said YOUR NUMBERS ARE GREAT! THE SURGERY IS ON!”
Karen doesn’t choose a song every day. This morning she did however. The song she selected is “My Lord knows the way through the wilderness. All I have to do is follow.” As we pulled onto our street coming home from the University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center, she told me about her song. I smiled as I listened to her as she shared about the chorus. “I have no choice but to follow” she said. “The part that I do have a choice in is how I will follow. I can follow being pulled, kicking and screaming. Or I can follow willingly and enjoy the walk.”
She would make a pretty good preacher!
As you think about it that is just how it will be for each of us today. Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 2:21, “For even hereunto were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.” If you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior please remember, “My Lord knows the way through the wilderness. All I have to do is follow.”
