Thursday Evening April 2nd,
Good Evening ! Thank you for checking in on Karen and for remembering to pray for her. Today was a good day. She had an x-ray this morning at the University Hospital Elyria Medical Center to prepare for her follow-up with the vascular surgeon on Monday. The Lord gave us a parking space very near the hospital entrance so Karen did not have a long walk.
Tomorrow is a busy day for her. Our nurse will come early tomorrow morning to check her incision site and to drain the pleurix catheter. After the last two drains her fluid level has been a little higher. We are praying that the fluid will not continue to rise. Then immediately after the visit of the nurse, we head to the Seidman Cancer Center where Karen will have lab work to check the white blood cell count in preparation for her next chemo therapy. Then later in the afternoon she has a very special appointment with the Specialist who will help her to get ready for her wig. The chemo therapy will result in her hair loss. The good news is that this is temporary and it will grow back. I gently tease her by saying, “Honey, at least you have the promise that your hair will grow back. Mine is never coming back.”
We are a little concerned because Karen has a runny nose tonight. We’re hoping that it is just the drastic changing weather here in Elyria today. The temperatures rose and now they are dropping because of the approaching cold front bringing rain. We really, really do not want her to be catching a cold.
Today has been a day of connecting. We have been so blessed with the amount of people who contact us throughout the week. Folks that just want to share with us that they are praying are always a blessing. Those who share prayer requests are a delight. In our prayer time this evening, we are reminded again that we must accept the diagnosis of cancer but not necessarily the verdict of cancer. No one can predict how long any of us will live. If you read Philippians 1, Paul wrestles with the blessed truth that it would be far better for him to be with the Lord. However, it would be more important for Paul to stay and do the things that the Lord wanted him to do on earth.
This is just how Karen is feeling. Typical Karen, she is not worried about herself, she is concerned for her family. That is one of the reasons that Karen is so loved. Thanks again for your prayers.
If you check and there is no update that actually just means there is nothing new share. However we still need your prayers and want you to know how much you are appreciated.
