We Have Some Pretty Big News to Share
Karen’s Update for Tuesday July 12, 2016
Thank you to our friends who decided to come on the journey with us. I know that I start many of my updates with an expression of our appreciation. But how can I do anything else but say “Thank you” to our many, many friends. You have been so faithful and so encouraging in your prayers as well as your emails, cards, and notes.
On Sunday I spoke about you! After teaching a Sunday school adult summer elective at First Baptist Church of Elyria, Karen and I headed across town where I spoke in the morning service at Abbe Road Baptist Church. Bob James asked me to update the congregation before the message and of course, I was glad to do so. One of the things that I mentioned to the church family about Karen was the tremendous support network that we enjoy. I told them that we read many books forewarning us that our friends would soon return to their busy lives and that we would feel abandoned and forgotten. BUT! I went on to tell them that has never happened with us. You folks continue on with your busy lives; but you have never, NEVER abandoned us. We have never felt forgotten. You are pretty incredible, do you know that?
With this in mind, I wanted to tell you as soon as I texted each of our family, that we’ve heard from University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center in downtown Cleveland. Here are the four times for Karen’s Cyber Knife procedure. Thursday July 14th at 9:00am; Monday July 18th at 2:30pm. Tuesday July 19th at 11:00am; and finally Friday July 22nd at 2:30pm.
Just before sitting down at my workstation to keyboard this update, I held my wife in my arms and whispered to her that “By next Friday the mass in your lung will be gone. You’ve carried it with you for so long. But next week it will be gone. OBLITERATED!” Thank you for your prayers.
The final matter for prayer is for wisdom for our oncologist as we meet with him after August 8th. I don’t have that appointment yet. However in that appointment we will discuss and decide on how to proceed and with what medication Karen will have to take in the future. She will always have treatments, scans, and tests. However for now we all are overjoyed with the Cyber Knife procedure and the mass obliteration. Thanks dear friends for keeping these procedures and dates in prayer.
