“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee” (Isaiah 26:3).
You’ll remember from yesterday that we broke off right in Pastor Kenward’s answer to young Samuel. Following the service as the Pastor was greeting folks, up had come young Sammy and his dad. Before JOY Club met the next Wednesday, Sammy was memorizing Isaiah 26:3 and wanted to ask his pastor what the word “stayed” meant. Pastor Kenward had just bent down on one knee to answer. “Let’s see, Sammy. The word ‘stayed’ means…well, let me show you what it means. Stand right here beside your dad. Closer, get really close to Him. Now your dad is going to put his arms around you, and you put your arms around him. Pretend that it is really windy outside. You feel the wind blowing your hair, but you aren’t scared because you are ‘stayed’ upon your dad. It means to ‘lean against, rest against, to be secure or fastened to.’ When hard times come, the Lord really wants to help us, Sam, as we learn more about Him and trust Him.”
For today: How about you? Can you picture the Lord and you in the word picture today? May your day be filled with the “peace of God” even if the storm is raging.
